Golf Glossary “G”
Glove: Most professional or amateur players use a glove. The latter is worn on the left hand for right-handed players and contributes to a better grip of the club.
Gimme: American term. In part friendly, putts a few inches from the opponent are given.

Grain: This is the direction in which the lawn of the fairway or green grows, and which will slow down or accelerate the rolling of the ball.
Grand Slam: Expression used to group the four main golf competitions.
Graphite: Natural or artificial crystallized carbon used in the construction of shafts and club heads.
Scratching: Missed shot of touching the ground before the ball.
Green: Area mowed flush around the hole and flagged.
Green Fee: The fee varies depending on the course and the day.
Greenkeeper: This is the maintenance manager of the course.
Greensome: Two teams of two players compete, after the drive each team chooses the best ball, then finishes the hole by playing in turn.
Grip: Two meanings:
- club grip.
- way to take the club in hand.
Baseball Grip: How to hold the club, or both hands are placed one below the other.
Interlocking Grip (or Interlocking Grip): A way of holding the club, or the little finger of the right hand gets stuck between the index finger and middle finger of the left hand.
Grip Vardon or grip overlaping: Way to hold the club, or the little finger of the right hand lands on the space between the index and the middle finger of the left hand.
Gutta Percha: Material formerly used in the construction of balls.
