Neguri, or Real Sociedad de Golf de Neguri, to give the club its full title, was founded in 1911 and the original course was an 11-hole deal located in Lejona. Forty-five years later, the club moved to its current location in Gebm, Punta Galea, northwest of Bilbao. The architect Javier Arana, a member of Neguri, was invited by the club to design his new course and he duly obliged, routing the fairways around 65 hectares of a large estate so that they could comfortably coexist with residential parcels that had been set aside to finance the golf project.
