Description of the Platja de Pals Golf Course in Catalonia in Spain

Located in the middle of the Arenals de Mar estate, on dunes covered with a huge pine forest planted seventy years ago, Golf Platja de Pals was designed in the early sixties by Mr. Baltasar Parera Vilar and his wife Mrs. Rosa Coll Llach. They provided the necessary land, built the first 9 holes and the clubhouse, and brought all the equipment necessary for its maintenance.

Even if in its February 1961 issue, Destino magazine published the first details of the future golf course, the work did not begin until 1964, on the basis of the project and under the direction of the English architect Mr. Fred Hawtree, who from the beginning followed the wishes of the Parera Coll family to the letter. Proponents’ respect for nature was so strict that it was not possible to cut a single pine from the property unless they marked it in advance.
