Obstacle: On a golf course are: expanses of water, bunkers, roughs, woods.
Front Water Obstacle: A ditch, stream or water feature located on the fairway in the line of play, most often marked by yellow stakes.
Lateral water obstacle: Ditch, watercourse or water feature parallel to the line of play, mostly marked by red stakes. The drop can be done on both sides of this obstacle.
Removable obstruction: Object not attached to the ground such as leaves, twigs or stones. They can be removed provided you do not move the ball.
Offset: Clubhandle shifted forward with respect to the clubhead.
Omnium: National competition open to amateurs and professionals alike.
Open: International competition open to amateurs and professionals alike.
Open: In the case of a clubhead, when its tip is facing outwards and in the case of stance, when the foot line is oriented to the left of the goal for a right-handed person.

Overlaping: See grip overlaping.
Overswing: This is an exaggerated rotation of the upper body causing the break of the left elbow at the top of the swing.
