Playing in the Arabella Golf Course in Muntaner in the Balearic Islands in Spain …
Nestled between the hills of Son Vida and Palma, the capital of the island, the resort Arabella consists of three classic courses, Son Vida, Son Quint and Son Muntaner.
Son Muntaner Golf Course was added in May 2000, when Kurt Rossknecht, who renovated Son Vida, returned to work on a longer and longer companion for his sister class.
Son Muntaner is a player’s course, and from the 1st hole, you are faced with challenging approach shots over water to bunkered greens. A slippery lake runs the length of the 2nd and 3rd holes, testing your accuracy on every shot.
Son Muntaner has the oldest olive tree in Mallorca – “Sa Capitana” would be 1000 years old. It is near the 15th tee, so try to avoid doing it with a golf ball!
The joy of playing here lies not only in having to shape the ball of the tee to get the perfect position for your second shot, but also in the size of the greens that offer the possibility of different positions, making the course different each day.
